One of the things I needed to figure out when I made the decision to become an author, was if I should go the traditional or the self-publishing route.
I didn't know too much about self-publishing at the time, but I knew that getting into traditional publishing is notoriously hard to do. And then even if you’re able to get this right, you could risk the chance of losing a large portion of creative rights to your own work and I’ve also seen traditional publishing dictate which books get released and which don’t.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many book series I’ve become invested in as a reader, but I’m still waiting for the final books in them.
I knew I didn’t want that for my journey, and so I researched my options until I landed on Publish Drive. It was exactly the solution I was looking for and a few months into my Self Publishing journey, I have no regrets. It’s given me the flexibility I need to figure out what type of author I want to be and what type of books I want to release.
While I am creative in storytelling, I knew right at the start of my journey that I needed creative help, specifically from someone I could trust. Tyla Raine is responsible for each of my beautiful book covers and so much more and I don’t think I could have done this without her.
So with all of these revelations about my publishing journey, before I publish the final book in the Tales of the Hidden Series, I decided to rather publish the first book in a new series instead.
While this may seem like an odd choice, the reason for this is two fold.
I needed a change of scenery, before I write the final book so I can do the story the justice it deserves. Also, I’m realising that each book I write, the better I get at my editing style, and I would like to bring the best version of myself to the finale in this series.
Self publishing has never looked like a better choice for me, than it does now.
